Conclusion

Thank you to all my students who’ve participated in this course and taken the time out to review all the lectures, I always appreciate constructive criticism and positive feedback. There’s a lot to discover and understand with this course and hopefully you can see the language architects improving performance and some language features.

Also there’s a nice little addition to the PHP syntax that has been included that I hadn’t noticed before which is accessing returned arrays; so this is now possible…

function returnArr( ){
    return [ 'hello', 'world' ];
}

echo returnArr( )[0];

You can see immediately after invoking the function we can use the bracket syntax to access the returned array. In this case it’ll echo out ‘hello’ as this element has the index of zero [0].
